As the Xbox Series X/S enters its third year, Microsoft's platform is gradually amassing a respectable library. Consoles typically do not start to flourish until the latter half of their existence, once cross-gen stops being a priority and developers can focus exclusively on crafting projects for only the most modern systems. The Xbox Series X/S has yet to reach that point, although things are moving in that direction.
2022 produced many stellar games, particularly in the open-world genre. Elden Ring, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, and Tiny Tina's Wonderlands are all good-to-great, and they offer wildly different experiences from each other. While big releases slowed down a bit after the end of March, things started to pick up again in September and October with A Plague Tale: Requiem, Persona 5 Royal, Overwatch 2, Modern Warfare 2, and Grounded.
What Xbox games are coming soon? Which titles are expected to drop after 2023? Please note that the focus is on the North American release dates of Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One games. Expansions will also be listed.

July 2023 Xbox Series X/S & Xbox One Games
July 2023 is not overly exciting in terms of AAA projects, but the month still has a couple of reasonably big titles scheduled for release.
Unlike June's sequel-laden lineup, its successor is defined by exciting new properties.
Capcom's Exoprimal casts players as superpowered characters who must take on armies of dinosaurs. A multiplayer-focused experience, the game has had a rough launch, garnering negative reviews.
That said, the multiplayer-focused title has its fans.
July 2023 marks the start of a new Telltale adventure, with The Expanse releasing its first episode.
The series will follow Camina Drummer, a fan favorite from the novels and Amazon's adaptation.
In terms of sequels, Remnant 2 is among July's most notable games, at least for Soulslike fans. Gunfire's Remnant:
From the Ashes proved that the subgenre could be adapted to third-person shooter gameplay, and the sequel looks set to expand on its predecessor's very strong foundation.

August 2023 Xbox Series X/S & Xbox One Games
Although a few more projects are likely to be announced prior to the month's arrival, August 2023 has a couple of noteworthy releases already. Deck13's Atlas Fallen might not be as massive of a title as Diablo 4 or Starfield, but the action RPG could prove to be a fun surprise. The developer is primarily known for The Surge, two Soulslikes that are generally respected. Atlas Fallen seems set to be a departure from these sorts of games, offering a more accessible and fast-paced experience.
EA's Immortals of Aveum is a first-person shooter revolving around magic instead of guns. The single-player title has produced a couple of captivating trailers that showcase its explosive and stylish combat system, all the while providing a glimpse into the world and story. Toward the end of August, FromSoftware will release Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, a highly-anticipated sequel in the publisher's long-running mecha franchise. While the company is nowadays primarily known for creating Soulslikes, Armored Core has a substantial fanbase in its own right.

September 2023 Xbox Series X/S & Xbox One Games
While August 2023 has its share of big names, the month's successor is on a whole other level. September starts with arguably the biggest RPG of 2023: Starfield. Bethesda's sci-fi epic has been highly anticipated for years, and the project will be launching immediately on Xbox Game Pass. Utilizing procedurally generated content, the title supposedly features more than a thousand planets.
Starfield will dominate the discourse for most of September and, perhaps, the rest of the year, but it is hardly the month's only noteworthy name. The Crew Motorfest could be a fun open-world racer akin to something like Forza Horizon; for those who prefer a kart racer, Disney Speedstorm will be free-to-play from September 28. Following a well-received demo, Lies of P is shaping up to be a special entry in the Soulslike subgenre.
Mortal Kombat 1 should keep fighting fans busy for a while as they get to experience NetherRealm Studios' newest timeline in the legendary franchise. First-person shooter fans who wish to pull off a few heists with some friends can turn to Payday 3, which will be huge if it is anywhere close to as successful as its predecessor. CD Projekt Red will be releasing the Phantom Liberty expansion for Cyberpunk 2077.
